Rob Zombie's remaking The Blob

Not content with dragging Michael Myers's corpse out for a second spin with Halloween II, Rob Zombie has snatched the rights to re-invent jelly-like alien invasion pic The Blob.

The 1958 original kick-started Steve McQueen's career with a terror-filled tale of an alien object crashing to Earth and unleashing a mass of blubbery material on a small American town that absorbs humans and grows as it goes.

It's already been through one remake thanks to Chuck "Scorpion King" Russell, which largely stuck to the idea of the red gooey monster mess.

Don't go thinking that the man behind a largely mask-less Michael is looking to stick with tradition, though.
