All Red Dead Redemption cheats for single-player
Use these Red Dead Redemption cheat codes to unlock outfits, get infinite ammo, and a whole lot more
Red Dead Redemption cheats can be used to make the West a little less wild for you, or send it completely crazy if you prefer! There are total of 39 cheat codes you can activate, with effects ranging from turning yourself into an invincible outlaw with unlimited ammunition and Dead Eye, to simply spawning in a donkey to ride across the plains on. If you want to sow the seeds of chaos, why not give everyone guns and make them hostile, then sit back and watch the riot unfold in Red Dead Redemption.
While around half of these cheats in Red Dead Redemption can be used right from the start of the game, the rest need to be unlocked before they can be activated. To do this, you've got to type some unusual phrases into the in-game cheats menu. These are hidden around the game world, but we've rounded them up here so you don't need to look for them yourself – check the table below for all of the phrases you need, along with the Red Dead Redemption cheats they unlock.
If you're more interested in the sequel, then you can also check out all of the Red Dead Redemption 2 cheats here!
How to enter Red Dead Redemption cheats
Before getting to the full list of Red Dead Redemption cheats, you need to know how you activate them. Pause the game, select the ‘Options’ menu, then select the ‘Cheats’ menu. This will bring up a list of all the cheats you have unlocked – you should have some cheats on the list already, but there are plenty more to add to them!
To get more cheats, press Y on Xbox, Triangle on PlayStation, or X on Nintendo Switch to bring up your console’s keyboard, or follow the appropriate prompt on PC. Now you can type in the relevant phrases, one at a time, from the list below.
Be warned: activating a cheat code while playing Red Dead Redemption single-player will disable autosaves and Achievements or Trophies. Turning off any cheats won’t suddenly fix this, so to get back to normal you need to reload a previous save to reach a point before you activated any cheats. If you plan on using any cheats, it’s always good to save at a campfire or settlement just before you activate them to ensure you don’t lose any progress.
