The Silent Hill 2 Remake shotgun is a weapon that you absolutely don't want to miss when you can first get it. It's a powerful gun you can find mid-game that really helps to even the odds by doing massive damage at close range. It can be found in Brookhaven Hospital and, while it's teased the moment you get inside, you can't actually reach it until you've been there for a while, explored, done some bits, and gotten access to the upper floors. If you want the shotgun in SH2, then here's its location and what you'll need to do to get it.

Where is the Silent Hill 2 shotgun's location?

The Silent Hill 2 Remake shotgun is inside a locker in the Brookhaven Hospital 2F Women's Locker Room (on the map marked above). However, you'll actually find the empty cabinet it's supposed to be stored in at the entrance to Brookhaven when you first arrive, as well as some scattered ammunition for it to collect along the way and tease the blasty fun ahead.

To get the SH2 shotgun, you'll need to complete the essential path of the hospital to a certain point, like this

  1. Reach Brookhaven Hospital.
  2. Find the Silent Hill 2 Remake hospital padlock code and get the basement key on 1F.
  3. Enter the basement to find and fuel the generator and activate the hospital elevator.
  4. Use the elevator to reach 2F.
  5. At this point, deviate from the main path and head West, and South to the Director's office.
  6. Rather than go in, head West again and up to the Women's locker room.
  7. The shotgun will be ahead of you as you enter, in an open locker.

From the moment you arrive in the hospital shotgun ammo is going to start appearing in the game, but it's important to remember that shotgun ammo is always going to be rarer than pistol ammo. So while the shotgun is much more powerful and incredibly useful, you'll really want to save it for special occasions/mortal danger so you don't find yourself without ammo when you need it. At this point the Silent Hill 2 Remake Pyramid Head boss fight has been done and while you might have wished you'd had it then, there are plenty of battles to come you'll be glad to have it for. It's also incredibly useful against the deadly nurses you'll be meeting a lot more often during and after Brookhaven Hospital.
