Where to find the Silent Hill 2 Remake Auto Parts key and get the red gate open
The red gate needs a key, so here's where to find it in SH2
The Silent Hill 2 Remake Auto Parts key open the red gate that blocks your way and is the first thing you'll need to find as you head into town. It's not technically that hard but it's easy to miss the big clue on the door if you weren't paying attention or expecting some prompting, and you'll have to explore and get past another locked door by other means to eventually get the key and move on. So here's how to find the Auto Parts key in Silent Hill 2 Remake and get that gate open.
This and the Silent Hill 2 Grand Market keypad code are probably the first two puzzles you'll encounter in the game.
Silent Hill 2 Auto Parts key location
The Silent Hill 2 Auto Parts key is needed as you make your way into town and reach a locked red gate ahead blocking the road. At this point you can interact with it but you'll have nothing in your inventory to help you. However, there is a stenciled 'Auto Parts' sign with an arrow pointing left that is your only clue. Look that way and you'll find the Auto Parts garage garage, with a big sign over the door.
However, you'll quickly discover this door is also locked but, just to the left of it, you'll discover a note saying that the owner 'went into town to get the window fixed' and that a spare key's in the drawer'. So, key points: we now know where the key is and a possible way to get in the building.
With this new information keep going around to the left, following the building, and eventually you'll see an open window with some white fabric around the frame to draw your attention. James will say something as you approach this so climb in once your'e inside you'll see a desk straight ahead, under a beam of light.
Have a look around the building if you like, but get to the desk and check it out to find the key you need inside a drawer, just like the note said. Now all you need to do is unlock the garage door from the inside to get out, and return to use the key to open the red gate. You're now free to head into Silent Hill and start the real fun/screaming.
