20 years later, cult classic PS2 JRPG Tales of Rebirth is finally fully playable in English thanks to a fan translation that's been in the works for nearly 4 years

A volunteer fan group responsible for making various Tales games more accessible outside of Japan is wrapping work on another project, this time hitting 1.0 on PS2-era JRPG Tales of Rebirth after nearly four years of work.

The sixth entry in the long, long-running Tales series, this one was released back in 2004 for the PS2 in Japan. While it received another release in 2008 for the PlayStation Portable, complete with additional content such as extra story scenes and a battle arena, the exclusivity to Japan remained.

News Editor, Games

I joined GamesRadar+ in May 2022 following stints at PCGamesN and PocketGamer.Biz, with some freelance for Kotaku UK, RockPaperShotgun, and VG24/7 thrown in for good measure. When I'm not running the news team on the games side, you'll find me putting News Editor duties to one side to play the hottest JRPG of 20 years ago or pillaging the depths of Final Fantasy 14 for a swanky new cloak – the more colourful, the better.
